Grassroots activism focus of Eastern Ontario spring health and safety school

What:   Eastern Ontario Labour Council Health & Safety/WSIB Spring Educational
When:  Wednesday, March 30, 2016 (evening) through Sunday, April 3, 2016
Where: Picton, Ontario—Isaiah Tubbs Resort & Conference Centre
Who:     Workers and worker representatives
This training school offers a unique learning environment designed to encourage new or renewed health, safety and workers compensation activism. 
Training material used for this school is developed by the Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) and the Ontario Federation of Labour Occupational Disease Response Team (OFL-ODRT).
Participants must select to participate in one of the following programs*:
  • WHSC Level 1 Basic Occupational Health & Safety Awareness
  • WHSC Level 2 Committees (Provincial)
  • MHCC Mental Health First Aid Certification & Violence Prevention in the Workplace
  • OFL-ODRT WSIB Program Level 1 & 2
  • OFL-ODRT Level 3 Appeals
  • OFL-ODRT Level 4 Return to Work.

*registration for each program is limited so register today
School organizers, in recognizing the need to foster activism in younger workers, are offering $100 scholarship opportunities to help offset registration fees for the first 10 paid registrants aged 30 or under.  Successful candidates must enrol in an entry level course, including the Workers Health and Safety Centre (WHSC) Level 1 program.
