Workers Compensation School
Thursday, November 16, 2017 thru Sunday, November 19, 2017
Windsor (Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites)
Workers, worker reps, health, safety and compensation advocates
Daytime sessions are spent in classroom-based learning environments designed to build awareness and inspire new or renewed activism. Training materials for these sessions are developed by the Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) and the Ontario Federation of Labour’s Prevention Link [formerly known as the Occupational Disability Response Team (ODRT)]. Participants select the training program that best fits their needs from among the following:
WHSC Level 1 Occupational Health & Safety Awareness
WHSC Level 2 Joint Health & Safety Committees (Provincial jurisdiction)
Health & Safety Advocacy
Prevention Link (ODRT) Level 1 & 2 WSIB Rights and Obligations
Prevention Link (ODRT) Level 4 Return to Work
For the workplace health and safety programs, participants focus on the knowledge and strategies they can draw upon in pursuit of safer and healthier work environments. Prevention Link programs are designed to empower compensation advocates with an in-depth understanding of the workers compensation system and further encourage their activism in support of affected workers and their families.
Participants are also encouraged to attend and actively participate in evening sessions focused on current issues and will include various authorities on selected health, safety and compensation topics.
