Breaking Ground Quilt The Hogg's Hollow disaster of March 17, 1960 is a sad reminder of worker exploitation. Five Italian Canadian workers paid the ultimate price for this exploitation. Their legacy, however, lives on through a quilt designed by visual artist Laurie Swim with help from numerous family members of the victims along with other community volunteers. The quilt, Breaking Ground: Hogg’s Hollow Disaster 1960, is permanently displayed in the main mezzanine at the York Mills subway station in Toronto. |
