Volunteer Recognition
Identifying workplace hazards. Recommending measures to
eliminate workplace exposures. Lobbying governments to enforce, enact or
amend health and safety legislation. Educating workers about occupational
health and safety.
These are just some of the activities performed by
volunteer health and safety activists. Without their dedication and persistence
the depth of worker suffering would know no boundary. Their efforts give us hope
that one day we can truly achieve hazard-free workplaces - where all workers
return home each day safe and healthy to their family.
The Workers Health & Safety Centre and many others believe these selfless
contributions are well worth celebrating. Each Fall, in conjunction with local
Ontario labour councils, the Workers Health & Safety Centre embarks on a
province-wide campaign recognizing volunteer health and safety activists.
