The labour community in the Region of Peel invites workers, worker representatives and others to register for occupational health and safety training opportunities this October.
The Workers Health & Safety Centre's (WHSC) three hour Workplace Violence program is being offered by Labour Community Services of Peel on Thursday, October 8. This program explores all aspects of workplace violence including verbal and physical abuse and harassment. Also discussed is the development and implementation of an effective workplace violence prevention program.
The Brampton-Mississauga and District Labour Council has scheduled the WHSC Federal Level I Occupational Health & Safety Training program for October 13 through October 16. This program is designed to provide workers and their representatives with a general understanding of occupational health and safety including hazard awareness, principles for controlling exposure along with occupational health and safety law. Equally important, participants are encouraged to lead or get more involved in health, safety and environmental efforts in their workplace, union and community. Some graduates may become health and safety representatives or joint health and safety committee members. Others may go on to become WHSC-trained volunteer instructors. It is hoped all will make a positive contribution towards safer and healthier work environments.
