Durham College announces 2010 health & safety training schedule

The Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) Level 1 Occupational Health & Safety training is one of many courses being offered at Durham College over the winter and spring 2010 sessions. Each of these WHSC courses is part of Durham College's health & safety labour studies certificate program.

Those enrolling in this certificate program are required to complete the following WHSC programs:

  • Level 1 Occupational Health & Safety
  • Level 2 Law
  • Level 2 Committees
  • Occupational Disease, and
  • Stress Awareness.

Program participants will also need to complete a number of elective courses to fulfill curriculum requirements. Upon successful completion of each course, participants will receive a certificate from the WHSC. A certificate from Durham College will be provided when participants have met the overall program criteria.

To fulfill the health & safety certificate program requirements, participants may be granted credit for courses already taken with the WHSC in the past five years

WHSC courses scheduled by Durham College during the winter/spring 2010 sessions include:

  • Emergency Preparedness (Feb. 17)
  • Law Level 2 - Provincial (begins Feb. 20)
  • Lockout (March 1)
  • Bill C45 (April 8)
  • Joint Health & Safety Committees -Provincial (begins April 10)
  • Heat & Cold Stress (April 20)
  • MSD Toolbox (May 5)
  • WHMIS - Our Right to Know (May15)
