WHY TRAIN WITH THE WHSC?
Years of Experience
As Ontario’s government-designated health and safety training centre, the Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) has been developing and delivering quality occupational health and safety training for some 35 years. We are the premier provider of Certification training for joint health and safety committees, Working at Heights training and so much more. We help workplaces comply with specific,
legal training requirements. As well, we offer training designed to help employers exercise due diligence in the workplace, by meeting general duty provisions for worker information and instruction.
Hazard-Based Approach
WHSC’s hazard-based training gives workplace representatives the skills to proactively identify, assess and control or eliminate hazardous working conditions that cause worker injury, illness and death. With new projects always in development and close to
200 existing training programs, we offer an extensive range of up-to-date, hazard-specific and industry-specific training products covering such issues as WHMIS, ergonomics, working at heights, confined spaces, workplace stress, indoor air quality, workplace violence and harassment and powered lift trucks. We also work with individual workplaces to develop customized training materials on a fee-for-service basis.
Proven Training Methods
Independent research has validated the importance of our delivery style and resulting improvements to the workplace. WHSC instructors complete a comprehensive training program to hone their skills in adult education and training delivery techniques. True to our roots our workers-training-workers method draws instructors directly from Ontario workplaces. Their real work experience makes for a relevant and engaging learning environment. Every WHSC program is based on
action and learning objectives, allowing skills learned in-class to be applied back in the workplace. Participant interaction, role playing, group discussions and audio-visual aids all contribute to the effectiveness of WHSC training.
Flexible Program Delivery
No matter where you work in Ontario, WHSC representatives are ready to visit your workplace, help assess your unique training needs, explain your delivery options, and arrange for
cost-effective training. Many WHSC programs are scheduled to run at various times throughout the year in virtual classrooms. Some are also scheduled in in-person classrooms in a community near you. Or we can work with you to organize the delivery of one or more training programs on your schedule and/or in your workplace.
