Worker Health and Safety Representative Training

Quality worker health and safety representative (HSR) training for small businesses has the potential to improve working conditions and the bottom line.

Most workplaces in Ontario which employ between 6 and 19 workers are required to ensure a health and safety representative (HSR) is selected from among the workers. HSRs have most of the same rights and powers as joint health and safety committee members in larger workplaces making HSR training essential.

Workers Health & Safety Centre’s (WHSC) comprehensive Worker Health & Safety Representative-Smaller Workplaces is designed to ensure worker HSRs understand and competently exercise their important workplace role. Our training program meets and exceeds health and safety representative training guidelines as developed by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development’s Prevention Office.

Convenient for small businesses, when demand is expressed, WHSC schedules this training in real-time, online, virtual classrooms. All that is required is a high-speed internet connection and a computer with a functioning camera, speakers and microphone. Participants will learn from a WHSC-qualified instructor alongside other remote learners in interactive sessions conducted from the safety of their home or workplace. To help ensure the integrity of the learning experience, smartphones are not permitted. (Where requested we can also bring this training to the workplace running it in an in-person classroom.)
