Casual summer jobs can involve working with everything from pool chemicals to propane. Has your workplace provided training on hazardous materials to everyone who needs it?
Summer is
no exception when it comes to complying with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). In Ontario, WHMIS applies to all workplaces covered by the
Occupational Health and Safety Act along with federally-regulated workplaces governed by the
Canada Labour Code.
Employers must obtain and maintain current information on workplace hazardous materials but more importantly they must ensure workers have access to and understand this critical information.
Training is key.
Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) can help. We have scheduled
Globally Harmonized (GHS) WHMIS training in live, real-time virtual classrooms throughout the summer. We can work with you to set up a proper WHMIS program and help you quickly comply with health and safety law. After successful completion of our training program,
we issue a WHMIS certificate of training and maintain student records for any future requirement.
Get into compliance now! Register for training. Only $10/participant.

WHMIS training—convenience and compliance
Intended for workers, supervisors and others in the workplace, like the traditional classroom version, this virtual program offers an overview of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for WHMIS. Participants will explore new standardized information, classification and communication requirements for hazardous products used, stored, handled or disposed of in the workplace. This includes GHS WHMIS labels, safety data sheets and pictograms.
