Workers' conference seeks your ergonomics' success stories
Workers like you often hold the answers for solving health and safety problems. Have you had success in getting ergonomic solutions into your workplace? We want to hear from you.
These workplace successes will be a critical part of the discussion at an upcoming conference co-hosted by the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW) and Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) to explore the many ways to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The conference is in support of health and safety activists and also recognizes Global Ergonomics Month.

Many workers and their representatives have already found workable solutions. For instance, OHCOW worked with staff at a mobile breast screening program in Thunder Bay to assess the risk of MSDs. Recommended design and workflow changes to the mobile bus unit reduced MSDs and safety hazards and provided a new model for future bus acquisitions. But more often, the solutions are inexpensive and easy to implement such as using adjustable workstations or spring loaded bottoms to avoid bending awkwardly into carts.
Through plenaries and interactive workshops, conference participants will share their own experience and strategies to overcome barriers to identifying, assessing and controlling MSD hazards. This will also provide essential feedback to WHSC and OHCOW on other tools and resources needed to support these MSD prevention efforts.

Share your ergonomics’ success stories, big or small.
