The WHSC has scheduled Basic Certification Training in communities across Ontario to assist workplaces seeking to comply with extensive JHSC training obligations.

Where: Barrie, Cornwall, Durham Region, Hamilton, Mississauga, Ottawa, Sudbury, Toronto—Downtown  
 

Certification Training obligations

Ontario health and safety law requires employers to ensure at least two members of a JHSC, one representing workers and one management, become certified. To become certified, JHSC members must complete both Basic Certification Training (Part I) and Workplace-Specific Hazard Training (Part II).

Additional employer training obligations

Employers have many other obligations in terms of health and safety training, including:
  • working at heights
  • worker awareness
  • supervisor awareness and competency
  • violence and harassment
  • confined space entry, and
  • mobile equipment operator competency.
