Certification Training obligations
Ontario health and safety law requires employers to ensure at least two members of a JHSC, one representing workers and one management, become certified. To become certified,
JHSC members must complete both Basic Certification Training (Part I) and
Workplace-Specific Hazard Training (Part II).
Additional employer training obligations
Employers have many other obligations in terms of health and safety training, including:
- working at heights
- worker awareness
- supervisor awareness and competency
- violence and harassment
- confined space entry, and
- mobile equipment operator competency.
