Employer JHSC Certification Training obligations

Ontario health and safety law requires employers to ensure at least two members of a JHSC, one representing workers and one management, become certified. To become certified, JHSC members must complete both Basic Certification Training (Part I) and Workplace-Specific Hazard Training (Part II).

Ontario employers have many other health and safety training obligations including:
  • working at heights
  • worker awareness
  • supervisor awareness and competency
  • WHMIS and Globally-harmonized WHMIS
  • violence and harassment
  • confined space entry, and
  • mobile equipment operator competency.

WHSC training—helping workplaces achieve compliance

As Ontario’s legally designated training centre specializing in occupational health and safety, the WHSC offers programs to help your workplace comply with the obligations mentioned above…and much more. In fact, all WHSC training is designed to go beyond just legal minimums to ensure real learning is achieved. With this, training participants will be better prepared to play a role in workplace prevention efforts.
