Free virtual WHMIS training: Register now!

Worker getting free WHMIS training in a WHSC virtual classroom
Responding to the expressed needs of workers, Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) is now offering free WHMIS training via our new virtual classroom until the end of April.

Although our virtual classes are filled all this week and into next week, new training spots are open beginning Thursday, April 23. Like last week’s initial offering, these are live (real-time), two-hour, virtual training classes.

This offer is made during these unprecedented and challenging times to help ensure essential workers still working during COVID-19 have ongoing access to trusted, potentially life-saving training.

We are beginning with Globally Harmonized (GHS) WHMIS training to help safeguard workers' short and long term health. Mix the wrong cleaning supplies for instance and a deadly gas could be created. Work with some products without proper controls and occupational disease may be the result in years to come.

Like all our training, this virtual offering of GHS WHMIS training will be highly interactive, applying adult learning principles to ensure learning is engaging, relevant and achieved. Participants will gain an understanding of WHMIS hazard class pictograms and of standardized information on product labels and safety data sheets so as to ensure the safe use, storage and disposal of hazardous products in the workplace.

WHSC’s virtual classroom is a secure environment, protecting privacy and preventing interruptions. Participants will need to supply
  • a high speed internet connection,
  • computer with a microphone and camera, and
  • the ability to print all participant resources, including work sheets.

Upon successful completion of the virtual GHS WHMIS training program, WHSC will email participants a WHMIS record of training and will maintain student records for any future requirement.
